Understanding what motivates people, what frustrates and surprises them is crucial to building a great product. Talking to people, analysing surveys and product usage (Google Analytics, Localytics, Flurry) helps me to create personas and user journeys.
I make a lot of sketches of simple, low fidelity wireframes and initial information architecture to bring life to any new project. For the next design phase, I create high fidelity wireframes and interactive prototypes in preparation to user interviews. Once the prototype is finalised I create a detailed specification for developers.
I always start with building an MVP (minimum viable product) and get users feedback. I focus on making the basic product great before moving on to backlog prioritisation and product roadmap planning, that is always driven by product, marketing and business KPIs, which I define together with stakeholders. I enjoy trying bold ideas and I support everything with data. I use Lean, Scrum and Kanban methodologies.
